Project confirmation for workshop in College at Sikar in the New Year was thrilling but mostly people had drawn a picture of Sikar as a city of coaching center so I was not expecting anything from the visit.
In Delhi, January is a month to play hide and seek with Sun. From smoggy morning of Delhi, we were welcomed by dazzling sunshine at Sikar which was a beautiful new years’ gift. Taking an auto ride from the station felt like any other city of Rajasthan still after completing the workshop I and my husband wanted to visit the place. By that time we had heard loads of adventurous and mischievousness childhood stories of Mr. Amit (the owner of Annpurna Hotel), and his you tube influencer friend which were tempting for both of us to explore the place. Like every time I was not keen to visit any temple.
Next day in bright sunshine the car was running through the circular rough and rocky roads with the striking hills at the backdrop making the journey wild and romantic. This was topped up with the thrilling local stories of our driver friend who by then had become a part of our gang. We stopped at some of the turns to capture the view in our camera. Every minute of drive was taking me closer to a temple which the local had praised a lot but I was enjoying the curvy and stony roads.
Soon we reached at the hill top, standing in front of the Shakambhari Mata temple. Two things instantly stole my attention: one, there was no que and the temple had some colourful paintings and murals on walls. Following the queue we reached the garv griha (the main section of the idol) where 2 vermillion pasted idols where placed. One of Brhamani and Rudrani riding lion in posture of killing Mahishasura. Suddenly looking at those idols of mata felt like pure, eternal peace and a sense of contentment but mata had planned more than that. While I was involved in showing the temple to my parents on a whats app call, one of the sadhus very warmly brought us a huge laddu prasad from the Prasad center. I still feel thrilled with the thought that how mata had pampered us as she knew that we both always crave for sweets in temple. If this was not enough, purohitji handed a rose garland of Shakambhari Mata with a packet full of Shakambhari Mata’s belongings. Holding all those items inside the temple, I was sure that it was mata’s way of showering her love on us.
The journey back was filled with joy of receiving those unexpected gifts from Shakambhari Mata, who did not even want to visit the temple. That’s the magic of the eternal power.
